How SQL Server Professionals can benefit from using version control – Kevin Chant
Kevin has a great read on why Database people should use version control. It’s really easy to just keep files in e-mails, random folders, and maybe even snippets for tools, but those can quickly get out of control. Those scripts may not be available when you most need them if you have a system crash or if you overwrite the wrong file.
You can sign up for all sorts of online version control systems for free, especially if you have small or private repos. Take advantage of that and start storing your scripts in some form of version control. (and remember to commit those changes regularly or it defeats the purpose)
